Overview
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) applies to everyone who uses the SchoolIntel platform, including customers, their authorized Users, and anyone accessing the SchoolIntel marketing site. It is incorporated into our Terms of Service; violating the AUP is a material breach of those Terms.
General prohibitions
You may not use the Services to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation, including export-control, anti-spam, anti-discrimination, and data-protection laws.
- Infringe or misappropriate any third party's intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or contractual rights.
- Send malware, ransomware, or other harmful code, or interfere with the integrity, security, or availability of the Services.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, computer systems, or networks connected to the Services.
- Misrepresent your identity, the source of any communication, or the source of any data exported from the Services.
- Use the Services to harass, defame, or harm any individual, including on the basis of nationality, religion, gender, or national origin.
Outreach to school staff
SchoolIntel exists to help EdTech companies do thoughtful B2B outreach. The information in our database is professional, public, and B2B. When using it for outreach you must:
- Send messages from a verified business domain that identifies your company clearly.
- Only contact school staff at their work email and only about topics relevant to their professional role.
- Honor any opt-out request, “unsubscribe,” or “remove me” reply on first contact and never re-contact that individual.
- Comply with the CAN-SPAM Act, CASL, the GDPR ePrivacy framework, and any other applicable jurisdiction's rules on unsolicited commercial email.
You may not:
- Send bulk commercial messages without a working unsubscribe mechanism.
- Send misleading subject lines, falsified headers, or impersonate another person.
- Send fundraising, political, religious, or recruiting communications to school staff.
- Contact school staff at personal email addresses, personal phone numbers, or any home contact information. (We do not provide such information; do not source it from elsewhere and combine it with SchoolIntel records.)
- Use SchoolIntel data to contact students or parents of students. Records about students are out of scope; if you encounter what looks like a student record in the database, report it to hello@schoolintel.co immediately.
Data usage and resale
SchoolIntel data is licensed for your internal go-to-market use only. You may not:
- Resell, lease, sublicense, or redistribute SchoolIntel data, in raw or derivative form, to any third party.
- Make SchoolIntel data available to a public-facing product, marketplace, or directory.
- Combine SchoolIntel data with your own datasets and represent the combined dataset as your own original research, removing attribution to the underlying public sources.
- Use SchoolIntel data to generate training data, fine-tune any model, or otherwise create a competing dataset (see “AI training prohibition” below).
AI training prohibition
You may not use the Services or any SchoolIntel data to train, fine-tune, or evaluate any large language model, embedding model, retrieval system, classifier, or other AI/ML system that is intended to (i) reproduce or substitute for the SchoolIntel database, (ii) function as a competing sales-intelligence product, or (iii) be made available to third parties as a service. This restriction applies to both raw outputs and any derivatives. Reasonable internal use of AI-assisted research tools to consume the Services for your own go-to-market work — for example, asking an AI assistant to summarize a brief you exported — is permitted, provided the underlying data does not leave your organization.
Scraping and automation
Automated, scripted, or excessive consumption of the Services is prohibited unless conducted through our official APIs and within the rate limits associated with your plan. You may not:
- Scrape, crawl, or systematically download SchoolIntel data outside the export and API limits in your plan.
- Circumvent rate limits, authentication, or other technical controls.
- Use multiple accounts to evade limits or detection.
Security research
We welcome good-faith security research. If you believe you have found a vulnerability, please email hello@schoolintel.co with details and a reasonable disclosure window. We will not pursue legal action against researchers who:
- Act in good faith and avoid privacy violations or service disruption.
- Do not access, modify, or delete data belonging to other customers or to school staff records.
- Give us a reasonable opportunity to remediate before public disclosure.
Reporting and enforcement
Suspected AUP violations can be reported to hello@schoolintel.co. If we determine that a customer or User has violated this AUP, we may, at our discretion and without prior notice: (i) issue a warning, (ii) suspend the offending User or feature, (iii) suspend or terminate the customer's entire account, or (iv) refer the matter to law enforcement. We will use reasonable judgment, take the seriousness of the violation into account, and notify the customer where lawful and consistent with safety.
